What we’re about
The NetAuto Group Rhein Main is a local Group in the Rhein Main area with passionate people discussing and networking around Network Automation. With people from diverse backgrounds, nationalities, and working fields, we are a diverse, inclusive, and vibrant group. We host monthly meetups featuring network opportunities, talks, discussions, and presentations on a wide range of topics related to network automation.
But why network automation?
It is a relatively new field, and we are a generation that is in an interesting phase of it. We live in an IT world where less is not more, and it's ever-growing with cutting-edge technologies and tools . Higher speed, more bandwidth and much more. It’s not just about the hardware; we also need scalable, reliable ways to configure, manage, and troubleshoot these networks.
Manual configuration is so 1980s, and manual tasks are prone to human error and not scalable. With Network Automation, errors are inevitable, even on a larger scale, but it also scales better. Human error can be handled more effectively, and we can build better, fail-safe systems.
So come join us! Be curious, share your knowledge, ask questions, and learn from each other. Whether you’re an expert or just beginning, everyone has something valuable to contribute

Description
- In the lightning talk given by Florian Löhden, we will first hear about:
What is this group, and what does it aim for? Giving a small introduction on what we thought while we were planning this group! But this isn't the only thing for the discussion we wanna talk about:
What is Network Automation for you? There is no single answer to this! We aim to use this lightning talk to initiate a discussion on how we all became involved in Network Automation and what our experiences have been so far. - In the Talk of Uzma Saman Chanderki, we will hear and talk about her Custom Ansible library, but let's hear what she says about it:
I’ve experimented with the existing Ansible collection released by the Nokia team, which includes CLI and config modules that interact directly with YANG module paths. While powerful, this approach can be intimidating for beginners, especially when it comes to locating the full path for interfaces or protocols and updating specific values.
To better understand the process, I decided to build my own custom module, inspired by other well-known collections like Junos, Arista, and Cisco IOS.
In this presentation, I’ll walk through how I created the module, provide a working example, explain the differences between my module and the official one, and finally reflect on whether building it was worth the effort.
Spoiler: either way, it’s a win.
Food and drinks are also provided! We want to thank Logicalis GmbH for hosting us.
