A mysterious disease has engulfed the remote town of Gorkhograd in the Russian steppe. As the death-toll is becoming catastrophic, a group of widely divergent yet prodigious practitioners of medicine and spiritualism is racing against time, to find a cure before the Czar's military razes the town in a last-ditch effort to contain the outbreak.
