Support Hope Exchange - Strengthening Families through Literacy

Details
This month we will be supporting Hope Exchange. Cost is $10 at the door. The Wonderful Flyte Restaurant will provide Appetizers and Happy hour drink prices . The primary mission of ENHE is to enhance reading skills of at-risk children (grades K-4) residing in the East Nashville community. This is achieved through the ENHE summer program that operates annually in June and July for six weeks (35hr/week). The tuition-free program served 100 children in 2016. Classes of 15 students are staffed by one certified teacher and one assistant teacher. Small group reading instruction of 4-7 students is the core of ENHE reading instruction. Additional development occurs through 1:1 encounters with volunteer “reading buddies” and home activities involving the child and parent/caregiver. Each day the students take home a book, which gives them an opportunity to build their at-home libraries (29 books/child in 2016). Two meals and healthy snacks are provided each day, and twice a week, family literacy programs are offered for parents/caregivers. We are committed to building relationships, delivering high-quality programming and championing a life of success for each child. All operating costs are paid through donations, grants, and fundraising events.
