NeuroArt Nexus: Talk and Networking with Visual NeuroArtist Geneine Carson

Details

This month, we are excited to announce that Geneine Carson will give an insightful presentation online for our international community.

Title: Coming to Engage Scientists Through the Visual Arts: A Personal Response to My Daughter's Diagnosis

Summary:
It was an unexpected genetic sequence, which veered Geinene’s artistic career into the scientific realm - her daughter’s diagnosis of the rare disorder 22q13. Sharing this journey in parallel with original artwork, Geinene will talk about her opportunities to directly engage and interact with scientific, research and healthcare professionals. Highlighted will be her recent collaborations as an artist in residence at the Univ. of Manchester (UK) in the Dept of Developmental Biology and Artist Affiliate at a forum hosted by The Society for the Neuroscience of Creativity, a professional society of scientists and practitioners who study the neuroscience of creativity.

Location: Online. Register for the event here.

After the talk there will be community networking.

About Our Speaker Geneine Carson

As a traditional fine artist with a BFA in Painting and Sculpture, Geinene Carson (USA) has invested years developing a body of artwork that embodies a unique intersection of art, science and lived experience. Her neuro-inspired artwork and creative advocacy have connected with various communities in rare disease, mental health and scientific research. This body of work originated with her daughter’s diagnosis of Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (22q13) but developed into a much broader exploration of neuroscience.

She brings expressionistic, experiential fine art to the scientific community, while incorporating scientific research and structure into the world of artistic expression. She exhibits and speaks internationally, and in addition offers a thoughtful collection of art items for personal and professional settings.
