Finding your neurodivergent strengths - information session
Details
Living in an ableist world in which many people view autism/ADHD as a problem or a deficiency can be in itself "disabling". In this free information seminar provided by Associate Clinical Social Worker and autistic Essy Knopf, we'll explore what it means to be neurodivergent, how to identify your strengths, and ways you can harness those strengths in service of your life purpose. The seminar will run for approximately 20 minutes, with 20 minutes provided afterward for Q&A.
Note: This seminar is free to attend, is intended to be a brave space, and will be supported by a facilitator. Please do not RSVP if you do not intend to come. Participants are expected to log into the provided Zoom link at the stated time. Out of respect for other participants, those who log in more than 5 minutes after the start time will not be allowed into the Zoom room.

Neurodivergent Talks, Connection & Friendship is a welcoming community for people who identify as neurodivergent (such as those with ADHD or autism) and parents of neurodivergent children and teens. Our group provides free talks that focus on raising awareness, increasing understanding, and celebrating the unique strengths of neurodivergent individuals. In addition, we organize various social and peer support events to help build connections and friendships among our members. Join us to learn, connect, and celebrate neurodiversity together.
RULES & EXPECTATIONS
- As a non-profit group run by volunteers, we want to create a welcoming and inclusive space for all members. We recognize that structural oppression exists in society and within the neurodivergent community, and we strive to combat discrimination based on factors such as race, class, sexuality, and age. We want to support neurodivergent individuals with intersectional identities and create a community where everyone can feel heard and valued.
- Our group encourages radical authenticity, self-expression, and self-acceptance, and we ask all participants to leave internalized ableism at the door. We celebrate diversity and ask members to be kind, empathetic, and respectful toward one another.
- Please note that some of our activities may not be accessible to everyone, but we'll do our best to offer a variety of options to accommodate different needs. We also ask participants to communicate any specific requirements or considerations before events.
- Be intentional when RSVPing. Participants who repeatedly fail to show up for events may be removed from the group. If you need to change your RSVP status, please do so with as much advance notice as possible. While we welcome participants to bring friends along, we ask that everyone who plans to attend an event individually RSVPs.
- We encourage members to follow local health guidelines and take responsibility for their own well-being. Organizers cannot guarantee that all participants are vaccinated or free from COVID-19, so any liability in this regard ultimately lies with the individual.
- Finally, please note that we may take group photos at events, which we'll share on our Meetup page and social media. Taking part in photos is optional, and you can let organizers know in advance if you don't want to be photographed.
DISCLAIMER: Please note all participants must follow group rules, which will be reviewed at the start of each session. It is important to understand that this support group is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health services, nor will any medical, mental health, or other type of health service be provided. The discussion group will not offer diagnosis, treatment recommendations, or advice regarding any medical or mental health condition or illness. In the event of a medical or mental health emergency, please seek professional medical attention immediately. The facilitator of the group cannot be held liable for the actions of participants.
We hope you'll join us for some new insights, friendship, and fun!
