**To stay connected to this community, visit and join us at https://www.neurodivergentdistrict.com/.**
Who is the Neurodivergent District group for?
This community is for anyone in or near the Washington, D.C. metro area that is genuinely seeking new friendships based on mutual trust, respect and acceptance. Currently, the majority of our members are between the ages of 25 and 45, and while the group is predominantly male, we’ve been pleased to welcome more women and non-binary folks in recent months. Whether you have a formal neurodivergent diagnosis, feel neurodivergent without one, or simply wish to meet new people, you’ll find a place here. Join us at www.neurodivergentdistrict.com.
Meet the Organizer
Kate Inez Harrington founded this group over a year ago after struggling to find welcoming, inclusive, and joyful spaces for her clients seeking community. She created this space to offer a supportive environment, and the group has been growing ever since. You can learn more about her work and contact her at **harringtonmatchmaking.com.**
Group Expectations
Our group aims to foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and respected. In return, we ask members to extend acceptance and kindness, especially to new members, as we know it takes courage to join a new group. We expect everyone to show respect and tolerance, even if others may present or behave differently than expected. However, harassment, racism, and disrespectful behavior of any kind are simply not tolerated. To stay connected, we encourage members to join our WhatsApp chat (https://chat.whatsapp.com/lJ2Kee9rElw9e2l1smidOE), as Meetup’s interface can be limiting for group communication. If you’re able, please consider supporting the group financially to help cover event costs and expenses like Meetup’s organizer fees, party supplies and refreshments, and venue reservations. This helps keep events affordable and reduces the financial burden on our organizers.
"Dating" is in the group name. Do I need to be single to join?
Not at all! You don’t need to be single to join—many members are here to make friends and aren’t focused on romantic relationships. However, if you’re interested in connecting with other singles, you can join our Facebook group or be added to Kate’s free singles database, where you may be matched with one of her matchmaking clients in the future. Autistic Singles & Friends Night at Dolcezza
Dolcezza Gelato, 7111 Bethesda Lane, Bethesda, MD, US### Autistic Adult Singles Meetup at Dolcezza Gelato (Ages 20s–40s)
📍 Dolcezza Gelato, Bethesda Lane (downtown Bethesda, Maryland)
🕕 Arrive between 6:00–7:00 PM | Event ends around 7:30 PMJoin us for a relaxed, low-pressure evening designed for autistic adults in their 20s, 30s, and early 40s who want to meet new people — and possibly make a romantic connection — in a supportive, understanding environment.
We’ll meet at Dolcezza Gelato on Bethesda Lane, where you can order a gelato or coffee inside and then join the group outside on the patio. (They occasionally have firepits available, but please bring a jacket and cold weather accessories — it will be chilly!) There’s limited indoor seating, so most of our group will gather outdoors if possible.
This event is hosted by Kate Inez Harrington, matchmaker and founder of Neurodivergent District, who will help facilitate introductions and make sure everyone feels comfortable. If you’re feeling shy, Kate can help you connect with others — and if you’d like, you can message her afterward if you felt a spark with someone but didn’t get to exchange information.
Participants include adults with a range of neurodivergent experiences, including those who may have higher support needs than you. Some may live and/or work independently but benefit from gentle structure in social settings. Please come with kindness, patience, and openness.
Note: Historically, autism events draw more men than women, so male attendees should be aware the gender ratio may be uneven. Still, the goal remains the same — to practice connection, conversation, and community. Come to make friends, too!
Please Don't Forget:
- Arrive anytime between 6:00 and 7:00 PM. Kate will stay until about 7:30.
- Bring a jacket — we’ll plan to sit outdoors and it will be chilly.
- You’re welcome whether you’re open to dating or simply want to meet others in a friendly, understanding setting.
