Welcome to the Neurodivergent Young Adults!
This group is designed specifically for young adults approximately in their 20s and 30s who are neurodivergent. If you're autistic, have ADHD, or identify with a different neurodivergent experience, you are who I built this group for. The goal is to create a supportive and welcoming environment neurodivergent adults can connect and share experiences. This group also aims to create social activities that feel comfortable, enjoyable, and less overstimulating than "club culture", usually popular among our neurotypical peers.
Navigating social situations can often be overwhelming, especially in settings like bars or nightclubs that are filled with loud noises and bright lights and the smell of alcohol. Many find the scene of traditional nightlife isn't always suitable for the needs of the neurodivergent brain. That’s why this group focuses on creating opportunities to meet up in more relaxed settings, allowing for meaningful conversations and friendships to blossom. Whether it's over a cup of coffee or exploring local art events, the aim is to provide a space that feels safe, comfortable, and inclusive.
Meetups will take place at various venues, starting with cozy spots like Alchemist Coffee and Watson's Mystery Cafe, where members can enjoy a calm atmosphere without the chaos of a nightclub. The group will also explore community events like First Friday Art Strolls and dress-up occasions such as Comic Conventions or the Renaissance Faire, creating opportunities to connect over shared interests and creativity. Suggestions for places or activities are always welcome, as the group is all about collaboration and ensuring everyone feels heard. People's homes are not preferred when just starting out but may be accepted later on.
This group is not just about finding community; it’s about building friendships with peers who truly understand the neurodivergent experience. Recognizing that having people who relate to unique perspectives can make all the difference in social lives is crucial.
