Neurodiverse Girls Cake Club

Details

Welcome to Cake Club!

I'm Rosie, the proud founder of The Blossom Effect, a non-profit that supports autistic girls like myself to flourish in the education system. I've been living alone for the past 5 years and, in that time, I've discovered two things:

  1. It's really hard to make friends! ... for anyone, but particularly for women with neurodiversities.
  2. It's really important to HAVE friends!... for anyone, but particularly for women with neurodiversities! Navigating the world with a different brain is complicated, and as much as I centre my world around empowering neurodivergent girls, there's no denying that we can be vulnerable in more ways than one. Having a support system that understands and accepts us is vital for our overall well-being.

So I decided to start a network that will hopefully make the whole friendship thing a bit easier!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

I've built the whole thing around my own special interest, Cake! (selfish, I know!)

Each attendee brings a homemade or store-bought baked good to go on the centre table. Throughout the morning, everyone can help themselves to each other's treats as well as tea, coffee and juice while we chat!

There will be plenty left over, so be sure to bring a box so you can take home some goodies!

Walking into a group of strangers can be intimidating, but we will have some gentle get-to-know-you games to break the ice.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

- Cake!
or any other baked good you'd like to share... cookies, cupcakes, pastries, traybakes... It can be homemade, or you can grab something from the shop on the way over!
- A box
or something to take any leftover treats home in.

WHO IS CAKE CLUB FOR?

Cake Club is for any and every woman (aged 18-118!) looking to build her social circle and make meaningful connections. We won't ask for a diagnosis certificate, and you won't have to disclose your diagnosis if you don't want to!

IS THIS A REGULAR THING?

Yes! Cake Club is a monthly meet-up. We have an upper limit of 30 people at each event, but this is the very first one, so there'll likely only be a few of us!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

£0.00! The event is funded by The Blossom Effect!

WHAT DO I DO NEXT?

Drop me a WhatsApp on 07522268222 saying something along the lines of "I want to join Cake Club!" and I can add you to a group chat where I can answer any questions ahead of the day!
