Winter Solstice-Dec Mtg changed to ☀️Celebrate Dec 21 at Cpt Rattys In New Bern
Our regular monthly meeting for December has been changed to Dec 21 to Celebrate the Winter Solstice!, We will gather to celebrate the Winter Solstice on Friday, December 21st at 4:30Cpt Rattys UPSTAIRS in their wine bar. We’ll have access to the roof terrace later so we can go up and watch the sunset at around 5:20. Before and after you can order drinks and appetizers from their menu! Afterwards those who wish may stay for dinner! All are welcome! So bring friends and family to see what happens during a Winter Solstice... —spoiler alert. It looks a lot like a sunset but with people drinking and toasting to the sun going down and then—going forward, to the days getting longer again! 🎅🏻☀️☀️. See you there!, Steve Linke Contact Steve or Ellen if you have questions.

What we're about

We are a non-profit, secular group of atheists, agnostics, skeptics, freethinkers, humanists, non theists, and non-believers - pick whichever label you like best. We are a chapter of the American Humanist Association (AHA) in Washington, DC, and follow their stated philosophy:

A progressive philosophy of life, that without the supernatural beliefs,
affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal
fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity.

We started up in November 2012 and welcome any like-minded people to join us for social activities and all the benefits of community. We meet the second Sunday of the month at 5:30 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of New Bern.

Our mission is to provide a positive, secular community where people can develop friendships, socialize, and learn about and support humanism and its values as defined by the American Humanist Association ( for the greater good of humanity.
