Widely considered one of the greatest films of all time, Brief Encounter is an 87-minute British romantic drama directed by David Lean from a screenplay by Noël Coward. It will be the main focus of discussion but we may also mention the following relatively restrained romances (not obviously free anywhere but please check your preferred streamers):
- Before Sunrise (1995)
- In the Mood for Love (2000)
- Lost in Translation (2003)
- Once (2007)
General plan: by 7pm most of us should be in the upstairs room at the pub but we'll start by suggesting films to discuss in future in case anyone arrives late. Typically we'll discuss the selected title until 8ish, when there's a short break to go to the bar, then any further discussion till around 9, though of course you can leave at any point.
