About us
New Culture (http://www.new-culture.org) is a community and a movement whose purpose is to examine every aspect of society and experiment to create a world that works—in every way, for everyone. It is a decentralized network with no leader, guru, or dogma; just a loose collection of local groups that value community, authenticity, personal growth, compassion, and social change.
Welcoming of all people—regardless of race, class, national origin, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual or relationship orientation, mental or physical health status, or any other identity or characteristic—the events in this group are opportunities to explore ways of relating that are free of oppression and violence; in spaces designed for radical acceptance, freedom, play, and self-knowledge.
How do we create a world based on love and freedom, rather than fear and violence? What might intimate relationships look like in such a world? How do we live well together and co-create joy? We have lots of questions and not too many answers. The fun part is looking at these issues together and trying out possible solutions; while practicing being unattached, curious, transparent, playful, creative, and connected.
In order to create a New Culture in our lives (and in the larger society), we develop and practice the skills we need to make that real through connection events and workshops.
This group is for people who wish to explore New Culture in Southeast Michigan and the surrounding areas.

Introduction to Circling: Embodied Mindfulness Relating
Radical Well-Being Center, 20411 W 12 Mile Rd Suite 101, Southfield, MI, USCircling is a form of embodied mindfulness relating in which we cultivate deep awareness and practice un-withheld present moment connection with self and others. In this practice, we try to answer the questions: “What is it like to be me right now?" "What is it like to be you?" "What is it like to be with each other right now?”
***You must register at Google form link below to attend this event***
I was recently trained in a specific style of Circling called Transformational Connection, and I want to offer this practice to all of you through an Introduction to Circling workshop.
Circling is right for you, if you’d like to:
- Experience more connection in your life
- Build skills that create more depth, honesty, and understanding in your relationships
- Learn how to “get other people’s worlds” and be present with their experience and reality
- Develop more empathy and acceptance across difference
- Become more aware of the feelings and sensations in your body
- Expand your awareness of the present through mindfulness
- Be known in all of your humanity, whether your experience is glorious or very painful
- Learn to own your own experience
- Become more aware of how your own mind works
During this 3-hour introduction, you’ll receive instruction and coaching in Circling, as well as practice of the guiding principles through pair activities and an hour long group circle.
This introductory workshop is required for you to attend any future Circling Practice groups that I hold, which are free.
There are several Guiding Principles of Circling that help us stay in embodied presence with each other, which you can read about here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VvaKloIni1tgsYOed5l4Zo3e66wtS1uJqZvJ8ISgWIM/edit?usp=sharing

From The Circling Guide:
“It involves meeting you exactly as you are in each present moment. We hold whatever arises—both in you and in ourselves—with a degree of wonder.”“We attempt to understand what it’s like to be in another person’s skin, while simultaneously being true to ourselves. It’s about seeing people for who they really are and ‘getting their world.’”
