Discussion Group: "The Guru Papers"

Details
Fluidity Lyceum is a monthly book discussion group, in which one person speaks for about ten minutes about a book they've read, and we spend the rest of the time discussing it! This was started by attendees of a local annual conference, Fluidity Forum. https://fluidityforum.org
This month we will be discussing "The Guru Papers", by Diana Alstad and Joel Kramer, presented by Matt Arnold. The authors contend that the concept of "all is one" can smuggle in covert authoritarianism. They show how guru cults attract and foster a lack of self-trust, which is at the core of cultic dynamics.
Please join us for this free event. All are welcome to attend and reading this month's book is not required to participate. This is a gathering for those with intellectual curiosity looking to connect with like minded people.
Past Lyceum books have included:
- The Righteous Mind
- Turn Your Life Into Art
- Rebuilding Society On Meaning
- The Embodied Mind
- Unlearning Shame
- The Art Of Gathering
