FALKLAND ISLANDS : A Bird Photographer’s Dream! (FREE EVENT)

Details
If visiting the Falkland Islands is on your bucket list (and it should be), this will be a great first step in planning the adventure of a lifetime!
Join Shawn Carey and me for a look at the bird photography opportunities on the Falkland Islands. Shawn will present a photo travelogue of a 2 week trip he made in December 2023 and I will follow up with logistic information about how to plan your own trip based on my visits to the islands in December 2012, January 2016, and December 2023.
Four species of penguins (Magellanic, gentoo, king, and rockhopper) and the majestic black-browed albatross are the main stars of the show, but there are many other great photographic opportunities including Magellanic snipe, blackish oystercatcher, Magellanic oystercatcher, pale-faced sheathbill, rufous-chested dotterel, two-banded plover, white-rumped sandpiper, speckled teal, Patagonian crested duck, chiloe wigeon, Falkland steamer duck (endemic), black-crowned night-heron, black-throated finch, white-bridled finch, Cobb’s wren (endemic), correndera pipit, dark-faced ground tyrant, kelp goose, upland goose, ruddy-headed goose, brown-hooded gull, kelp gull, dolphin gull, king cormorant, rock cormorant, silvery grebe, white-tufted grebe, white-winged coot, blackish cinclodes, Falkland thrush, long-tailed meadowlark, turkey vulture, striated caracara, southern giant petrel, and Falklands skua.
One common thread among all of these species in the Falklands is that they have never had any land-based predators. This has made them extremely indifferent to people resulting in some amazing photo ops.
