Climb Galehead Mountain

Climb Galehead Mountain via Gale River Trail from the parking area on Gale River Loop Road. This is a moderately challenging 4,000 footer - the trail is 5.2 miles each way with 2,500' of elevation gain including the spur to Galehead summit. The AMC Galehead hut is 1/2 mile short of the summit and a great place to stop and take a break, fill your water and grab some snacks before finishing the last 1/2 mile. I'm climbing up and spending the night at the hut, so if you join this hike I'll only be along for the hike up. Bring a lunch, snacks and water, and a wind/rain shell just in case - the forecast looks great but is always changeable. Sorry, no dogs.
