Solr: Cross Collection Joins & a New Plugin System

Details
This event covers two Solr topics listed below. Attivio (now ServiceNow) has graciously offered to host at their Waltham location.
(1) Solr Cross Collection Join Filter (XCJF)
In this talk we’ll provide an overview of the new XCJF in Solr. This feature allows for queries to join data sets across distributed multi-shard Solr collections. The primary use case that will be reviewed is for performing analytics over a large scale data set in Solr. This feature was recently committed back to Solr and will be available in Solr 9 (and possibly Solr 8.5).
Speaker: Dan Fox is a Search Architect and Senior Java developer with 15+ years experience in search technologies. Dan has multiple contributions to Solr and solves really hard search related problems for major organizations at KMW Technology.
(2) Solr's New Plugin System
Solr 8.4 has a new plugin system that portends of a better future much improved from today: (a) load plugins at runtime, (b) find 3rd party plugins in a registry, (c) fetch, install, and even configure plugins from the CLI, (d) a more slimmed down Solr distribution that is more secure. David will demonstrate what is available now and what the future may look like as the feature blossoms.
Speaker: David Smiley is a prolific Apache Lucene/Solr committer/PMC member and ASF member. David has written books, delivered training, and speaks at meetups & conferences on this subject. He works on search at Salesforce which graciously supports these endeavors.
