The Long Island Museum and Avalon Park & Preserve have joined forces in this unique, community-focused tree wrapping project! In addition to the five trees on LIM’s campus, artist Carol Hummel will work with volunteers at Avalon Park & Preserve to cover one more tree, located in the preserve. There is still time to get in on this project. Volunteers are needed to help create the crocheted patterns for the Avalon tree. Carol Hummel will host the workshop at Avalon Park, where she will teach volunteers how to make the pieces for this crowd-sourced art installation. No experience is necessary.

Register at Avalon Park by calling (631) 689-0619 or email info@avalonparkandpreserve.org.

The project will culminate in a dedication ceremony with Carol Hummel and all the volunteers who participated on Sunday, July 19 at 2 p.m. on LIM grounds. The Stony Brook Chamber Ensemble will perform an outdoor concert. Please bring chairs or blankets for seating. The event is rain or shine and indoor space is available in case of rain.
