We live in a world that never stops talking. Between notifications, news feeds, and endless conversations, we're surrounded by noise. But somewhere along the way, we forgot how to truly listen. We interrupt, we problem-solve, we wait for our turn to speak—but how often do we really hear each other?

In our next meetup, we're going to explore something that sounds simple but has become incredibly rare: The Art of Listening. Not the kind where you're already forming your response while someone's still talking. Not the kind where you're trying to fix everything. But the kind where you're fully present, where someone feels genuinely heard.

Certainly, we all need that space where we can speak without being fixed, judged, or interrupted. And maybe, learning to listen better could change not just our conversations, but our connections with each other.
So let's talk about listening — What it means, why it matters, and how we can get better at this lost art.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a debate. This is a thoughtful discussion where we'll share personal insights, explore different perspectives, and challenge each other's assumptions respectfully.

Question We'll Explore:

  1. What is the difference between hearing someone's words and truly listening to their meaning?
  2. What happens inside you when you realize someone isn't really listening to you?
  3. What does it really mean to feel heard?
  4. Who's the best listener you know, and what do they do that makes them so good at it?
  5. What role does ego play in our inability to listen?
  6. Can you genuinely listen to someone whose views fundamentally oppose your own, or does disagreement create a barrier that makes real listening impossible?
  7. In what ways has technology changed our capacity to listen deeply?
  8. If listening is so valuable, why don't we teach it explicitly in schools alongside reading, writing, and speaking?
  9. Why do we avoid truly listening? Is our poor listening actually a form of self-protection?
  10. What do we lose as a society when listening becomes a rare skill?

No preparation needed ! Just come with an open mind and be ready to listen and learn from each other.
