Book Discussion: The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt, (Part 2)
Details
Get ready for our next book discussion: The Righteous Mind (Part 2)
This time we're exploring a question that might change how you see every political and moral disagreement: What if morality isn't just about harm and fairness?
In this section, Haidt introduces his Moral Foundations Theory: the idea that our moral minds are like tongues with six different "taste receptors" for right and wrong. This framework offers a powerful lens for understanding why we can't agree on issues like patriotism, tradition, and social change revealing that our disagreements often stem not from ignorance or malice, but from fundamental differences in which moral foundations we prioritize.
If you've ever felt like people on the "other side" are speaking a different moral language, this section will show you that probably they are.
See you on March 7!
Important Note: If you have not done the reading for the meetup, you are welcome to attend and listen to the discussion, but out of respect for those who have read, you will not be permitted to participate in the discussion.
