###### Current issues we are facing as psychotherapists and Jungian analysts and clinicians will be explored. Topics to be discussed include the collective complex constellated in modern culture in response to the use of psychedelics, as well as similarities and differences between the drug-induced ayahausca experience and the states of ecstasy Andean shamans (paqos) experience without the use of plant medicine in relation to the individuation process. The stages of the 're-entry' process after a numinous encounter will be examined, addressing how these kinds of initiations may hinder or deepen personal growth. In addition, examples of material that often emerges from the unconscious for some clients in the aftermath of a profound mystical encounter will be described along with the validity of current research findings and whether drug-induced states are necessary to achieve deeper connection with the cosmos and the Self.

###### Bio: Deborah Bryon has a virtual private practice and lives in Madeira, Portugal. She is the author of four books and multiple articles bringing the practice of psychoanalysis and Andean shamanism together. She is a frequent lecturer in the international psychoanalytic community.
