We will kick off the day with IBM’s newest z17 Updates where Kenny
Stine will take you through a look at the z17’s core design and
architecture. Explore the new Telum II chip improvements in the cache
design and how it works within the system as well as changes in the
memory. We will cover the layout of the I/O subsystem, new adapters,
and discuss some of the new features coming to the Z - updates to
Flexible capacity for Cyber Resiliency, the new AI Inferencing Accelerator, and the new Spyre adapter. We will review physical planning
consideration for the system covering the power, layout, site tools and
environmental stats as well as explore coupling considerations, STP, and
the HMC strategy for the IBM z17.
Next, Evolving Solutions’ Jim Fyffe and Roger Ecklund will present details
on how IBM Z is enabling organizations to strengthen their cyber
resilience strategies. The presenters will highlight the power of
Safeguarded Copy and Cyber Vault in protecting critical data, minimizing downtime, and accelerating recovery in the face of cyber threats. Learn how these capabilities integrate seamlessly with IBM Z to deliver a secure, resilient foundation for modern IT operations.
To close out the day, Steve Warren will present What’s New in z/OS 3.1
(and 3.2). z/OS 3.2 has just been announced on April 8 and will be
generally available at the end of September this year. Get a taste of some
of the new capabilities that will be available in 3.2 as well as learn about
the plethora of enhancements provided in z/OS 3.1 and new functions
added since its release. These enhancements can be found in areas of
Application Development, Usability & Skills, Scalability & Performance,
Availability, Systems Management, Networking, Data Serving & Storage,
and Security.
