This is my original walk which I have not lead for 3 years.
A lovely walk exploring Swinley Forest which is very near Bagshot and just 10 minutes from junction 3 of the M3.
It is quite short at about 4-5 miles and will take about 1.75 hours but it does have several slopes up and down with a couple of short sharp ascents but they should not cause any problems to anyone that I have seen in our group. No stiles though to climb over. I doubt that many of you have visited this area so I hope a few of you will join me for a lovely stroll and chat.
The forest is part of the Crown estate and much of the imported trees have been felled and are gradually being replaced by native species but until they take over, lots of heather abounds. There are several eateries very near including a Hungry Horse pub which offers value food and it's good! Alternatively, you can simply explore Bagshot town centre which is small but interesting and pleasant with several independent and friendly shops.
To get there from the M3, take the A322 towards Bagshot, Bracknell and Reading and go down a hill to a set of traffic lights. Here turn left towards Bagshot and at a small roundabout turn right. Follow Guildford Road to the end and onto the High Street and onto the A30 where you turn left towards Camberley. Almost immediately, turn right into Church Road and go up to St Anns Church where lots of parking is available on the road soon after. Meet me by the church.
You can call me on 07395004461 and if you are up to 5 minutes late, you will easily be able to catch us up.
NO DOGS PLEASE.
For members of the regular walks scheme it is free and for others £4.
If coming by train, it is not a very busy line but Bagshot Station is only a few minutes from the starting point.
