A COMMON WALK - IN CHOBHAM

In 2020, Chobham Common had a bad year, fire having damaged or destroyed 500 acres of its area and it was closed for 10 days. Happily it has recovered as I will show you.

Inspired by one of our members, (thanks again Tania), after she led me and Lynn across the common, I worked out a 2 hour route based on that walk which showed some lovely common land and evidence of the fire.

This 5.5 mile walk takes us under the M3 as well with a small climb to a viewing point and we will be up close and personal to the cross erected for Queen Victoria before we return to the car. It is reasonably flat but it does get muddy with lots of rain, so be aware if the weather is not so good soon before the walk.

The car park is quite large and has been free since 1st April but it does get busy so please turn up a bit early and it is likely a dog walker will vacate a space soon after arrival.
