Cohousing offers a better way to live . . .
. Participate in community
. Relate to the land
. Interact with your neighbors
. Simplify your life

Cohousing communities strive to integrate a supportive social environment with a low-impact way of life. To achieve this, they incorporate various aspects of ecological design, permaculture, green building, alternative energy, and much more. There are over a hundred such communities in the United States and thousands all around the world, but right now there are few in our area. Real estate regulations, high property prices, and a lack of awareness about housing alternatives are obstacles to their development.

Ecovillage New Jersey is hoping to jump-start cohousing development with a workshop on June 5th that will "Make It Real!" The workshop will be led by Chuck Durrett, co-founder of Cohousing Solutions, a California-based architectural firm that has developed over fifty communities in the US over the past 30 years. Their time-tested methodologies, in diverse locations, have offered one of the best path toward creating intentional communities in our region.

At the workshop, you will learn about:
. Site planning and development
. Choosing professionals and navigating government approvals
. Community building, funding, and governance
. Financing and budgeting strategies (that work!)

Tickets are $149 per person (including the After-party!). $99 early bird special through April 30 Purchase at EcovillageNJ.org. Limited number of scholarships available.

After-party at the Blackthorn Pub across the street for both participants and the community from 5:30 - 8:00 PM. Suggested donation: $20

Transportation: NYC attendees can either take the train from Penn Station to New Brunswick or message me to carpool.
