Welcome young Asian intellectuals! This is the book, movie, and art club of New York, where we share, enjoy, and discuss books, movies, and arts that we love!
For now, this Meetup will be a book and movie club, where I (or another organizer) will suggest a book or a movie, and we will have a virtual happy hour to talk about it! Once the pandemic lifts, I envision this Meetup to branch over to in-person happy hour discussions and museum visits.
The goal of this Meetup is to foster connection through intellectual discussion and hopefully some tasty beverages. With that in mind, I'll need to lay down some ground rules:
1. The goal of this Meetup is to enable people to make new friends in a time when doing so is more challenging than before. If these friendships naturally progress to romantic relationships, that's awesome. That being said, this is NOT a dating/singles Meetup. Sexual harassment is grounds for expulsion from the group.
2. If friendships naturally progress into business or professional relationships, that's also awesome. That being said, this is NOT a place to pitch your MLM or to try to monetarily take advantage of people. Doing this is also grounds for expulsion from the group.
3. The target audience for this Meetup group is people who identify as Asian/Pacific Islander/Desi who are below the age of 40. How strictly the age limit is enforced is at my discretion, but I ask that you be mindful of the intention of this group.
4. We have a "3 strikes and you're out" rule with no-shows. It means that if you RSVP that you will attend a Meetup and then don't show up three times, that is grounds for expulsion from the group.
Now that these rules are out of the way, above all, I want everyone to come to the Meetup and have fun!
