Why are Men and Boys Struggling?

Details

Women and girls have historically been disadvantaged in societies that have been dominated by men for centuries. Progress toward gender equality has been made, to be sure; but a wage gap still exists in favor of men, and positions of power and leadership continue to be held primarily by men. But, according to a new book, Of Boys and Men, by British writer and scholar Richard Reeves, boys and men are struggling in the U.S. today and falling behind their female counterparts in significant ways. Data indicate that boys are trailing girls in education and are less likely to escape poverty. And males account for almost three out of four "deaths of despair" due to overdose and suicide.
Ezra Klein of the NY Times in the podcast below interviews Richard Reeves about his findings and together they explore what can be done to assist boys and men.
For our discussion please listen to the podcast. If you're interested, I've included two additional sources, opinion pieces from the Times, as well.
Looking forward to seeing you. I'm sure this will be a good one!
