Details

We are conducting this event jointly with my other much larger group called NYC Hiking Tours. See: https://www.meetup.com/nyc-hiking-tours/?eventOrigin=your_groups

This is only the 3rd event we are doing this group. I am NOT sure if I will continue to operate this group going forward.

This will be a fun and interesting event.

PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION OF THIS EVENT CAREFULLY. Take your RSVP seriously. RSVP'ing does not mean you have to go, it just means that I ask you to be considerate and responsible.

THERE ARE NO GUESTS UNLESS YOU HAVE AN ATTENDED AN EVENT BEFORE. IF YOUR GUEST WANTS TO ATTEND THEY CAN SIMPLY JOIN THE GROUP AND RSVP.

PLEASE ALSO READ "WHAT WE'RE ABOUT" ON THIS MEETUP'S HOME PAGE BEFORE YOU RSVP IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WAIVER OF LIABILITY ON "WHAT WE'RE ABOUT” NOW SPECIFICALLY REFERENCES THE CORONA VIRUS. (THE WAIVER OF LIABILITY HAS BEEN POSTED SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THIS MEETUP GROUP)

WE PLAN ON VISITING THE QUEENS MUSEUM AFTER WE FINISH WALKING. THAT IS OPTIONAL. I WILL SEND INFO ON HOW TO GET THE TICKETS AND WHAT THEY COST IN THE NEAR FUTURE. WE WILL FINISH AROUND 1:00 P.M OR SO IF YOU VISIT THE MUSEUM.

MEETING DETAILS WILL BE SENT BY E-MAIL TO THOSE WHO RSVP NO LATER THAN THE EVENING BEFORE THE HIKE. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GET THERE EASILY BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AND BY CAR- THERE IS FREE PARKING. WE WILL ONLY DO THIS IF THE #7 TRAIN IS STOPPING AT WILLETS POINT IN QUEENS.

Attendance will be limited to around 10 members from this group.

Join me on a 4 mile fun but fast paced event as we explore Flushing Meadow Park which was the site of the 1964 World’s Fair (1939 as well).
We will wander around part of this sprawling huge park and visit some landmarks from the 1964 World’s Fair-there are NOT that many-and I'll also point out where some old exhibits used to be that you may have visited as a kid-that means you, like me, are NOT so young anymore. ( I have an original guide book of the 1964 Fair.) For those who want to, we will then briefly visit the Queens Museum with the intent to see the crown jewel of the museum-The Panorama of The City of New York -as well as any exhibitions the museum has. The visit to the Museum will be self guided meaning you go into the museum and do what you want with some very minor input from me! (Photo is of The Panorama of the City of New York).

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR MEETUP SETTINGS ALLOW YOU TO RECEIVE E-MAILS. IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO, ON YOUR DESKTOP, PLEASE CLICK ON YOUR PROFILE (it's in the upper right of the Home Page), THEN SETTINGS ,THEN E-MAIL UPDATES AND MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAN RECEIVE E-MAILS THRU MEETUP. THAT'S THE WAY YOU WILL LEARN WHERE THE MEETING PLACE IS. ALSO PLEASE CHECK THIS SITE RIGHT UP TO THE DAY OF THE EVENT TO SEE IF I HAVE POSTED ANY COMMENTS ABOUT THE EVENT-I LIKE TO THINK THOSE COMMENTS ARE IMPORTANT! ALSO PERIODICALLY CHECK YOUR MESSAGES LINK ON THE TOP RIGHT OF THE WEBSITE. YOU CAN CHOOSE WHICH MEETUP GROUPS YOU WANT TO RECEIVE MESSAGES FROM.

AS ALWAYS, I am also going to ask that people NOT post any comments or questions prior to the event. You have more than enough information to do this once you get the meeting details. No offense, but I don’t need to know-and probably neither does anyone else- what you are doing that day if you can’t make it or what you think the weather will be. AFTER the event, post as many comments and photos as you like. The comments you post BEFORE an event are almost always annoying and unnecessary and I'm not the only one who believes that. PLEASE RESPECT MY WISHES ON THIS.

If the weather forecast is bad, I will post a notice on the day of the hike by 9:00 A.M. If there is no notice, we go.
