Brompton Bike Ride w/ Jazz. Followed by Food & Wine

NOTE: All participants must sign a Brompton Bicycle waiver, which I'll email seperately.

For this event, we are trying something new and different! A Brompton Bike ride of approximately 10 miles, from Greenwich Village to Dana and Oliver's apartment building in Dumbo. Were we will enjoy food and wine. We will be combining members of Dana's Brompton Bike group with members of our wine group.

THE EVENT DESCRIPTION!!!!!
Dear Friends,

We're excited to invite you on a collaboration between Stephen, Dana and Oliver, the "Brompton Wine Ride with Jazz"!

(In case you haven't heard of Brompton, it's a quirky brand of folding bicycles from England that are really fun and comfortable to ride.)

We will start with a fun social bike ride, about 10 miles long. We'll meet at the Brompton Junction in Greenwich Village, where you can pick up a free loaner Brompton. We'll then bike along the wonderful Hudson River Greenway and bike across the Brooklyn Bridge. From there we'll bike along the Brooklyn waterfront with gorgeous skyline views. At the mid-point we'll stop in Red Hook for delicious key lime pie and views of the Statue of Liberty.

We have networked speakers that we will distribute to some of the bikes to create our own riding jukebox, with Oliver as our jazz DJ.

The bike ride ends at Dana and Oliver's rooftop terrace in Dumbo where we'll have a picnic-style dinner with wine pairings from Stephen.

Details

- Meeting Point: Brompton Junction at 287 Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village

• Time: Meet at Brompton Junction at 3:45pm, We'll arrive at Dana and Oliver's by 6:00pm for wine and picnic-casual dinner

• Bike Rental: Free. Brompton has kindly offered us free loaner bikes

• The ride: 10 miles, almost entirely flat (aside from crossing the Brooklyn Bridge), almost entirely on separated bike lanes, slow and social.

• Support: We'll have riders from Brompton NYC in the group to support anyone who is nervous about city riding.

What to Bring/Wear

• Comfortable clothes (no biker lycra needed - the Brompton aesthetic is commuter casual ;-)

• Helmets: Brompton will loan us helmets, but bring your own if you prefer.

• Korean-style rice & tuna salad

• Oliver's famous pasta salad

• Dana's spicy chili

End of the Evening

Upon departing you can leave your loaner bike at Dana and Oliver's.
Alternatively, Brompton has generously offered to let you keep your loaner Brompton for four days past the event so you can enjoy it during the week!

(If you keep the loaner, we only ask that you take it home via public transportation - i.e. no drinking and riding ;-)
