It is time for another high end Collectors Night dinner at Tuscany Steakhouse. This event will be limited to 6 people. and we will have 1 white wine followed by 3 red wines.

The 3 red wines will be highly collectable California Cabernet Sauvignon based red wines. The white wine starter will be an aged French wine from Burgundy, that I have had before and really enjoyed. We will be dining at Tuscany Steakhouse for this 6 person dinner. They are located on W. 58th Street, between 6th and 7th Aves.

Here is a link to their menu...

** The cost of this event is $175 and is for the cost of the wines and corkage only. Please understand, that Tuscany Steakhouse charges us corkage, which is included in the price of the event. NOTE: Meetup has started charging a "Partner Fee" that is above and in addition to the listed price of the event. It is annoying and confusing, but there is nothing I can do about it. It comes to approximately $6 more for each RSVP. You will see this charge when you complete your rsvp and pay for the event. Sorry! MEETUP+ members are exempt from this charge.

Just a reminder of our usual rules:

You will also have to pay the cost of your food (plus 33% for tax and tip). Please order at least two courses (i.e. a main dish and either appetizer or dessert) for your dinner.

Please read and understand the group's cancellation policy. If you take spot, then cancel, and no one else takes the spot, you will not receive a refund or credit. No refunds or credits will be given for no-shows or late cancellations (unless someone else takes your spot). All cancellations are subject to a $10 service fee.

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):
2015 Dureuil-Janthial Puligny-Montrachet Les Corvées des Vignes ($80) - An aged White Burgundy! CT 93.3.

1996 Ridge Monte Bello ($275) - 2 bottles left! WA 96+ p0ints, "The most aromatically exotic vintage of the decade, the 1996 Monte Bello is superb, bursting from the glass with an extravagant bouquet of cassis, cigar box, rich soil, roasted meats and decadent oriental spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, richly tannic and very intense, with a deep and tight-knit core and a bright line of acidity, concluding with a long, youthful finish. The 1996 vintage saw rain during flowering—which reduced yields at this address to less than one ton per acre—followed by a warm summer. The result is a super concentrated Monte Bello that hasn't even reached its plateau of maturity yet. Choosing between this and the formidable 1995 will always be a challenge, but I suspect the 1996 has the greater upside. The blend consists of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 9% Petit Verdot, attaining 13.2% alcohol. (drink 2020-2040)"

2002 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select ($350) - CT 96.6, JD 100, WA 100 points, "In contrast to the more linear, structured, but massive 2001, the 2002 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is pure fruit-bomb material, but stunningly proportioned, beautifully pure, with notes of melted chocolate, blackcurrant jam, sweet black cherries, licorice, camphor and charcoal. Very full-bodied, like the 2001, but much more lavishly fruited, it is more accessible and hedonistically, as well as intellectually, satisfying. If the 2001 is the long-distance runner, this comes across more like a middle-distancer. It had performed fabulously well since it was released by the winery, and even though it’s still an adolescent in terms of its evolution, this wine is a head-turner in wine tastings, and a spectacular effort from Napa. Drink now or drink in 20-25 years. (drink 2014-2040)"

2013 Realm Cellars The Bard ($160) - CT 96.2, WA 100 points, "The perfect 2013 The Bard is a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot, coming from four vineyards that Realm uses consistently -- B Weitz, Houyi, Blair and of course, the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane in St. Helena. There are 950 cases of this extraordinary wine, which has it all. Notes of graphite, blackberries, roasted espresso and chocolate are followed by a wine of enormous, massive extraction, richness and intensity, but no hard edges. This seamless work of vinous haute couture is staggeringly rich, very long, but not the least bit heavy or overbearing. This is a killer effort that's already showing enormous complexity but should age effortlessly for 15 or more years. (drink 2015-2030)"
