Nice Matin Dinner Menu
Nice Matin is located at 201 W. 79th Street, the corner of Amsterdam Ave.
** The cost of this event is $42 and is for the cost of the wines.
NOTE: Meetup has started charging a "Partner Fee" that is above and in addition to the listed price of the event. It is annoying and confusing, but there is nothing I can do about it. It comes to approximately $4 more for each RSVP. You will see this charge when you complete your rsvp and pay for the event. MEETUP+ members are exempt from this charge.
Just a reminder of our usual rules:
You will also have to pay the cost of your food (plus 33% for tax and tip). You will be expected to order at least 2 dishes (an appetizer and a main, or main and dessert) to help support the restaurant.
Please read and understand the group's cancellation policy. If you take spot, then cancel, and no one else takes the spot, you will not receive a refund or credit. No refunds or credits will be given for no-shows or late cancellations (unless someone else takes your spot). All cancellations are subject to a $6 service fee.
The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):
2019 Domaine Ledogar Carignan Blanc ($30) - I poured this for our group in August 2022, and we loved it. A French wine, but I have no other details.
2014 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Petite Chapelle ($45) - CT 91.5, WA 91 points, "The second wine [of La Chapelle] is the 2014 Hermitage La Petite Chapelle (first introduced in 2004), which tastes similar to its big brother, just in a more rounded, supple and forward style. Cassis, black raspberries, cured meats, toasted spice and roasted herbs aromas and flavors all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, ripe, sexy effort that’s ideal for drinking over the coming 10-15 years. (drink 2016-2031)"
2021 The Walls Vineyards Mahana ($70) - CT 92.3, JD 94 points, "Coming all from the Rocks region of Walla Walla, the 2021 Mahana is 73% Syrah and 27% Grenache that was destemmed and will spend 18 months in larger format oak. Red, blue, and black fruits as well as notes of peppery underbrush, sappy herbs, and damp earth define the aromatics, and it’s medium to full-bodied, has a seamless mouthfeel, moderate acidity, and fine tannins. It picks up a classic Syrah bacon fat nuance with air and is a gorgeous wine in the making."
2016 Shafer Relentless ($75) - CT 92.7, I haven't poured this in a while! WA has rated every vintage (that they have rated) over 92 points, but skipping this vintage. JD 96 points, "I’ve consistently loved the Relentless cuvée from this team, which is always from a single vineyard and is Syrah-dominated, with about 10% Petite Sirah in the blend. The 2016 Relentless is sensational. Dense purple-hued with a sweet bouquet of jammy blackberries, ground pepper, charcoal, and some smoky, meaty notes, it’s a full-bodied, powerful, yet plush, even elegant Syrah that does everything right. (Drink between 2020-2035)" Mostly Syrah, with a few percentage points of Petit Sirah mixed in blend.
2019 The Farm Winery Touchy-Feely ($70) - CT 92, As many of you know, the Farm Winery is owned by a fraternity brother of mine. This Grenache dominant blend is 69% Grenache and 31% Syrah. WA 93 points, "The 2019 Touchy Feely has bright scents of red berries, citrus peel and dusty earth. The medium-bodied palate is softly framed and vibrant with a concentrated core of juicy fruit and a long, spicy finish."
