It's hard to believe that I haven't had a group dinner at OM since the NYC Marathon! I'm leaving for Florida the following afternoon, so I thought one last January dinner before my vacation.

This will be a dinner of all wines that I purchased from Full Pull Retailers. They are a WA state mailing list retailer that offers up wines a few times a week. Generally they have very good prices and often offer under the radar wines, they also have something called "the Redacted series" basically a mystery wine offer at greatly reduced prices.

At this 8 person dinner there will be 1 white wine and 4 reds, all from Full Pull.

OM is located at 1531 York Ave, Corner of 81st Street. They do charge a small corkage fee, which is included in the price of the event.

NOTE: Meetup charges a "Partner Fee" that is above and in addition to the listed price of the event. It comes to approximately $3 more for each RSVP. You will see this charge when you complete your rsvp and pay for the event. Sorry! NOTE: Meetup+ members are exempt.

Just a reminder of our usual rules:
* The cost of this event is $27 and is for the cost of the wines and corkage only. You will also have to pay the cost of your food (plus 33% for tax and tip). Please order at least two courses (i.e. a main dish and either appetizer or dessert) for your dinner.

Please use public transportation - NO DRINKING AND DRIVING!

Please read and understand the group's cancellation policy. If you take spot, then cancel, and no one else takes the spot, you will not receive a refund. No refunds or credits will be given for no-shows or late cancellations (unless someone else takes your spot). There is also a $5 service charge for cancellations.

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):

2016 Pacific Rim Riesling Solstice Vineyard ($27) - I like to start OM dinners off with a Riesling. This one comes from WA state, and here is what Full Pull had to say about it, "Here is a mature Washington Riesling from one of the state’s Riesling specialists, and from a lovely, high-elevation (1100’), old-vine (1980) Yakima Valley site. This is Pacific Rim’s homage not to the Rieslings of Germany, but instead of Austria. What does that mean? Quite dry (just 1.08% RS) and quite textured (13.0% listed alc). It’s also a style that ages beautifully. This opens with a no-doubt-about-it aging Riesling nose, its non-fruit elements (diesel and slatey minerality) just as prominent as its tangerine and lime leaf fruit notes. It drinks very dry and very bright, with lovely mid-palate heft and a pinpoint balance of richness and energy. This earned 91pts from Sean Sullivan back in a 2018 issue of Wine Enthusiast. “Beautiful stuff,” he said then, and beautiful stuff it is now."

2021 Domaine Cabirau Maury Sec Serge & Marie ($15) – This bargain priced Grenache based wine got 93 points from JD, “Always a brilliant value as well as a terrific wine, the 2021 Maury Sec Serge & Marie is based largely on Grenache yet includes one-third Carignan. Black cherries, darker raspberries, dried violets, loamy earth, pepper, and sandalwood all emerge on the nose, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, soft tannins, and a great finish. This cuvée always shows the perfumed, riper style of Maury yet never comes across as heavy or cumbersome, and if anything, this 2021 could easily be mistaken for a beautiful Pinot Noir. It's perfect for enjoying any time over the coming 7-8 years. (Drink between 2023-2031)

2019 Five Star Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon ($23) – A Redacted (Mystery) wine from Full Pull. From Full Pull….This Cab comes from a longtime Walla Walla Valley producer (they’re celebrating their 25th anniversary this year). Most of their production each year goes out the cellar door to their winery mailing list and wine club. It is mostly (more than 90% Cabernet, with the rest Merlot. It was aged for just shy of 2 years in barrique, mostly French, about 30% new.
This comes from four different valley vineyards representing three distinct sections of the valley: valley floor (Pepper Bridge), foothills of the Blues (Les Collines, Blue Mountain), and the thrilling high-altitude basalt-driven Sevein project (Summit View).
This one kicks off with an expressive nose indeed (thank you extra bottle age): blackcurrant fruit and leaf, high-cacao chocolate, coriander, mineral. The palate presents an intense, sapid Cabernet (14.8% listed alc), flecked with minerality and swaddled in appealing barrel tones. This is in the early stages of a very promising evolution, the fruit still quite primary, the tannins softening but still very present, especially on the toothsome back-half. With length and complexity, depth and intensity, this has all the ingredients to bring pleasure and intrigue for many years to come.

2020 Soos Creek Stampede Pass Red ($18) - I'm a big fan of Soos Creek and every once in a while, Full Pull has some amazing bargains on their wines. Paul Gregutt 92 points, "Here is a Bordeaux blend sourced from Ciel du Cheval, Champoux and Elephant Mountain vineyards, fermented in native yeast and aged in 15% new French oak. It’s principally Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a splash of Cabernet Franc. Firm, tight, dark and tannic, yet beautifully balanced for aging, this could be your go-to Bordeaux blend for aging over the next decade. Cassis and black cherry fruits, a streak of coffee, a hint of licorice… wow, this over-delivers past any reasonable expectation. 14.1%; (Columbia Valley)"

2023 Full Pull & Friends CVSIP ($24) - This is part of Full Pull's "House Blend" wines. This one is a Rhone style blend, and here is what FP had to say about it, "A full 80% of the blend is a combination of Grenache and Syrah. The remaining 20% will need to be an enduring mystery.

The Grenache comes from the Yakima Valley; the Syrah from the Walla Walla Valley. Portions of this were raised in barrique, puncheon, and concrete. All of the oak (barrel and puncheon) was French; all of it was used at least once.

This opens with a beautiful briary wildness, its core of mountain berry fruit (red and purple huckleberries) complemented by appealing topnotes of violet and white pepper and bass notes of bacon fat and mineral. What a glorious aromatic profile! The palate is a balanced seamless beauty, quickly fanning out and saturating the mouth with savory/fruity goodness, then lasering from front to back on supple velvety texture (14.4% listed alc). This one really lights up both the intellectual and pleasure centers of the brain—there is clearly outstanding vineyard material at play here."
