This is a short notice, small group event.

Please join me at Nice Matin for a night of these wines that show off one of my original favorite wines, Zinfandel. Personally, I love a good Zin with a Cheeseburger and fries and Nice Matin has a great burger!

This will be an 6-person dinner featuring 3 different Zinfandels, plus the obligatory white wine starter..

Here is a link to their menu (just in case you want something OTHER than a burger!)
Nice Matin Dinner Menu

Nice Matin is located at 201 W. 79th Street, the corner of Amsterdam Ave.

** The cost of this event is $39 and is for the cost of the wines.

NOTE: Meetup has started charging a "Partner Fee" that is above and in addition to the listed price of the event. It is annoying and confusing, but there is nothing I can do about it. It comes to approximately $4 more for each RSVP. You will see this charge when you complete your rsvp and pay for the event. MEETUP+ members are exempt from this charge.

Just a reminder of our usual rules:

You will also have to pay the cost of your food (plus 33% for tax and tip). You will be expected to order at least 2 dishes (an appetizer and a main, or main and dessert) to help support the restaurant.

Please read and understand the group's cancellation policy. If you take spot, then cancel, and no one else takes the spot, you will not receive a refund or credit. No refunds or credits will be given for no-shows or late cancellations (unless someone else takes your spot). All cancellations are subject to a $6 service fee.

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):
2023 Two Vintners Grenache Blanc Boushey Vineyard ($32) - I'm going to start us off with a white Grenache from WA State. Not a lot of info on this, but here is my tasting note from last August, " A Rhone style white with very little if any oak. Very enjoyable. I shared this with my wine group at a Turkish restaurant and it worked great as a pre-dinner starter wine. Medium length finish, golden color. Sweet tasting fruit."

2021 Martinelli Zinfandel Vigneto di Evo ($30) - Martinelli's newest and least expensive Zinfandel. I bought 2 bottles and this will be the first time I'm trying one. 16.3% Alcohol!

2022 Outpost Zinfandel Howell Mountain ($90) - CT 91.8, I love Howell Mountain Cabernets, but here is a Zin from Howell Mountain. I have been continually impressed by how well Outpost does with their non-Cabernet wines. WA 94 points, "Matured in only about one-third new French oak, Outpost's 2022 Zinfandel doesn't really show much wood on the nose, which is all ripe cherries, berries and stone fruit, with only modest briary notions. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied and supple, with a long, mouthwatering finish tinged with mocha. (drink 2025-2033)"

2023 Ridge Zinfandel St. Peter's Church Vineyard ($50) - CT 90.8, 14.4% abv. 95% Zinfandel, 5% Petite Sirah. A new offering from Ridge. WS93, Owen Bargreen 95 points, " “The 2023 ‘St. Peter’s Church’ Zinfandel has 5% Petite Sirah blended in. Sourced from this location in Sonoma set on clay and loamy soils, this has terrific tension and brightness once on the mouth. A hedonistic melange of red and dark fruits combine with salty soils, tobacco leaf, kumquat zest and shades of bramble on the palate. Really good now, enjoy over the next ten plus years. Drink 2025-2038.”
