New Restaurant Alert!!! From the folks at Nice Matin, another restaurant in their portfolio and they are offering FREE corkage on Saturdays!

They are located at: 37 E. 50th and Madison Ave.

So join me for a High End Napa (California) wine night. For this dinner we will have one white wine from California's Russian River Valley, followed by 4 High end red wines, all from Napa! Should be fun!
We will have a 7pm reservation.

Just a reminder of our usual rules:

** The cost of this event is $90 and is for the cost of the wines only.

NOTE: Meetup has started charging a "Partner Fee" that is above and in addition to the listed price of the event. It comes to approximately $4 more for each RSVP. You will see this charge when you complete your rsvp and pay for the event. Sorry! Meetup+ members are exempt from this charge.

You will also have to pay the cost of your food (plus 33% for tax and tip). Please order at least two courses (i.e. a main dish and either appetizer or dessert) for your dinner. There are very few restaurants that allow us to bring our own wine for a Zero corkage fee. We must be good guests to encourage the restaurant to continue to be generous to us.

No refunds or credits will be given for no-shows or late cancellations (unless someone else takes your spot). All cancellations are subject to a $7 service fee.

The Wines :
2021 Littorai Chardonnay Mays Canyon ($100) - WA 96, JD 95 points, "From vines originally planted in 1982, the 2021 Chardonnay Mays Canyon is a youthful straw with green highlights and is lifted fresh pear, lime blossom, and fresh green almond. Medium-bodied, with a note of fresh ripe pear fruit that’s more evident on the palate than the nose, it also offers notes of green melon, delicate saline, and white flowers. Drink 2023-2030. Heidi and Ted Lemon operate Littorai from their Gold Ridge Estate in Sebastapol, where they produce Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from exceptional cool-climate vineyard sites on the Sonoma Coast and in Anderson Valley. Ted is hands down one of Sonoma's most important farmers and winemakers today, and I met with him at the winery this May. Though they farm biodynamically, they prefer to describe their practices in the vineyards as “Generative Farming,” a term intended to include the human relationship to the stewardship and shaping of the land as part of modern nature and integrated farming. In the winery, all the wines undergo spontaneous fermentations."

2013 Paul Hobbs Cabernet Sauvignon Hyde Vineyard ($100) - WA 92 points, "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Hyde Vineyard reminds me of a Napa version of a St.-Emilion, with notes of baking spices, Christmas fruitcake, red and black currants, licorice and a touch of herbaceousness. It is dense, ripe, medium to full-bodied, and ready to drink. It should be consumed over the next 10-15 years. (2016-2031)"

2014 Larkmead Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Olmo ($175) - CT 92.5, WS 94, JD 95, WA 95+ points, "The “Black Label” wines include the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Olmo, which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the clone of Cabernet that is also called Eisele, This wine spent 20 months in 62% new French oak A magnificent wine by any standard of measurement, with notes of scorched earth, lead pencil shavings, charcoal embers, and blackberry and cassis fruit, this dense purple wine has undeniable minerality, a beautiful, full-bodied texture and a voluptuous finish. Drink it over the next 25 years. (drink 2016-2041)"

2018 Fortunate Son Cabernet Sauvignon The Dreamer ($140) - CT 93.4, WA 95 points, "Coming from a vineyard close to Hundred Acre's Few and Far Between vineyard and planted to 85- to 90-year-old vines, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon The Dreamer is made from around 92% Cabernet Sauvignon with a small proportion of unknown red varieties interplanted. Deep garnet-purple in color, it bursts with flamboyant notes of redcurrant preserves, cassis, dark chocolate, violets and red roses, plus fragrant hints of Indian spices and camphor, with a suggestion of iron ore. The medium to full-bodied palate is fabulously velvety, delivering beautiful freshness and loads of spicy layers, finishing very long. (drink 2023-2043)"

2019 Bacio Divino Cabernet Sauvignon Janzen Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard ($150)- CT 94.1, JD 96+ points, "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Janzen Missouri Hopper Vineyard is also 100% varietal and comes from a great site located on the western side of the valley, in the Oakville AVA. It's a more black/blue-fruited beauty with tons of spicy, incense, lead pencil, and chocolaty goodness on the nose. These carry to a full-bodied Cabernet with terrific balance, building tannins, and an almost Graves-like sense of scorched earth and roasted herbs that emerges with time in the glass. It's another gorgeous wine from this label. It needs 2-4 years of bottle age and will cruise over the following 10-15. (Drink between 2024-2041)"
