Nice Matin Dinner Menu

** The cost of this event is $34 and is for the cost of the wines.

NOTE: Meetup has started charging a "Partner Fee" that is above and in addition to the listed price of the event. It is annoying and confusing, but there is nothing I can do about it. It comes to approximately $4 more for each RSVP. You will see this charge when you complete your rsvp and pay for the event. MEETUP+ members are exempt from this charge.

Just a reminder of our usual rules:

You will also have to pay the cost of your food (plus 33% for tax and tip). You will be expected to order at least 2 dishes (an appetizer and a main, or main and dessert) to help support the restaurant.

Please read and understand the group's cancellation policy. If you take spot, then cancel, and no one else takes the spot, you will not receive a refund or credit. No refunds or credits will be given for no-shows or late cancellations (unless someone else takes your spot). All cancellations are subject to a $6 service fee.

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):

2019 Domaine Michel Mallard & Fils Ladoix 1er Cru Les Gréchons Blanc ($55) - CT 92.6, from the importer, "This is an upper slope, limestone driven delight of a wine that truly drinks like a baby Corton Charlemagne. This stuff is plain awesome, and very much under the radar for white Burgundy lovers who prize salty/mineral tension allied to very tonic, medium weight fruit flesh."

2022 Syncline Mourvèdre Heart of the Hill Red Mountain ($35) -
This was a Full Pull Mystery Wine, here is what they said about it...
"It is 100% Mourvedre. All that good Mourvedre fruit was
fermented in upright oak tanks, with 50% whole-cluster material, before aging in 500L puncheons for about a year and a half.
This opens with a wild-hearted Mourvedre nose: plum and purple huckleberry, wild rose and star anise and sanguine minerality. Just the right amount of sauvage. The palate is something special, the energy perfectly calibrated and the fruit intensity just outrageous. It’s propulsive as can be, gaining momentum from front to back and carrying waves of mineral- and spice-inflected purple fruit. The finish is all fine/dusty tannins with a kiss of grapefruit peel, and the overall package is a knockout version of Red Mountain Mourvedre.

2006 Turley Zinfandel Ueberroth Vineyard ($35) -An aged Turley Zin that may or may not be past it's drinking window. Let's find out! WA (92-95 Barrel sample) points, " A fabulous Zinfandel that reminded me of a Chateauneuf du Pape was the 2006 Zinfandel Ueberroth Vineyard. Another Paso Robles vineyard, very close to the limestone vineyards of Saxum, this wine tops the scales at 16.1% alcohol. It has an almost Chateau Rayas-like delicacy, with gorgeous kirsch liqueur notes intermixed with licorice, black raspberry, and cherry, and to me it tasted like a dead-ringer for an old-vine Grenache. The wine is full-bodied, opulent, and a super hedonistic as well as intellectual turn-on. It should drink well for 5-7 years."

2022 Ridge Botticelli Vineyard Rockpile ($50) - WA 92 points, "The 2022 Rockpile is a blend of 68% Zinfandel and 32% Petite Sirah from the Botticelli Vineyard, where vines are planted at 1,200 feet of elevation overlooking Lake Sonoma. It has slowly blossoming scents of tar, blueberries, black cherries, graham cracker and forest floor undertones. The medium-bodied palate offers complex, layered flavors that range from sweet fruit to earth and spice. It has a softly chalky texture, mouthwatering acidity and a long, perfumed finish. It will benefit from a few years in bottle or some time in a decanter."

2021 Ridge Evangelho ($40) - JD 90 points, "From Contra Costa County in California, which is south of Napa and just east of San Francisco, the 2021 Evangelho is based on 58% Carignane, 22% Zinfandel, and 20% Mataro. Spicy red and black fruits, cigar, savory herbs, dried orange, and some leather nuances all emerge on the nose, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, firm yet still ripe tannins, and a great finish. This spicy, complex, savory red will evolve for at least a decade. (Drink between 2024-2034)"
