Soos Creek!
Details
It is time for another night of wines from my favorite value producer, WA State's Soos Creek. We will be dinning at Bobby Van's on Park. For this dinner we will have one white wine from a different producer in WA state, because SC doesn't make any whites, followed by 4 red wines, all from Soos Creek.
We will return to perennial favorite, Bobby Van's on Park for a 7pm reservation.
Here is a link to their menu...

Just a reminder of our usual rules:
** The cost of this event is $29 and is for the cost of the wines only.
NOTE: Meetup has started charging a "Partner Fee" that is above and in addition to the listed price of the event. It comes to approximately $4 more for each RSVP. You will see this charge when you complete your rsvp and pay for the event. Sorry! Meetup+ members are exempt from this charge.
You will also have to pay the cost of your food (plus 33% for tax and tip). Please order at least two courses (i.e. a main dish and either appetizer or dessert) for your dinner. There are very few restaurants that allow us to bring our own wine for a Zero corkage fee. We must be good guests to encourage the restaurant to continue to be generous to us.
Please read and understand the group's cancellation policy. If you take spot, then cancel, and no one else takes the spot, you will not receive a refund or credit. No refunds or credits will be given for no-shows or late cancellations (unless someone else takes your spot). All cancellations are subject to a $6 service fee.
Please use public transportation - NO DRINKING AND DRIVING!
The Wines :
2023 DeLille Cellars Chaleur Estate Blanc ($25) - Year after year, I love this homage to the white wines of Bordeaux. JD 94 points, "Blending 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Semillon, the 2023 Chaleur Blanc is made in a rich, rounded style, with oak influence coming from its time in barrel, 42% new. The Semillon is from Klipsun Vineyard in Red Mountain and the Sauvignon Blanc from Sagemoor. Salty wet stone, dried apricot, and a hint of honey make it a compelling, medium-bodied white that shows a 25- to 30-year aging potential. (Drink between 2025-2055)"
2014 Soos Creek Champoux Vineyard ($40) - Steve Tanzer, 92 points. Winemaker's notes, "This is my favorite vintage of this wine because it is so close to the style I originally targeted of berry fruit, earthy, and herbaceous flavors with a firm tannic structure. The grapes, including 5% Cab Franc, were sourced from the Champoux, Dineen, Elephant Mt., Klipsun, and Weinbau vineyards and aged in 30% new French oak."
2018 Soos Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain Reserve ($45) - SC's first and only futures offering, WA 92+ points, "Rich, round and dusty, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain Reserve begins with a robust nose with ripe, dark fruit expressions. Black cherry, black plum and crème de cassis waft from the glass with dusty floral tones, sweet baking spices and a kiss of volatility. Medium to full-bodied, complex and layered, the mouthfeel is broad, textural and continually evolving, giving way to fine-grained tannins and flavors of bitter dark chocolate and cherry skin. Concluding with a long-lingering finish, the wine persists in the mouth with a firm tannic grip and will remain food-friendly well past its 10th birthday. Bravo, this is delicious! (drink 2021-2033)"
2021 Soos Creek Enchantments ($27) - 75% Merlot, but it tasted big, especially for a Merlot. Our own Heather B said this about it, "PALATE: Dry, with high acidity/tannin/alcohol. Body is full, with pronounced flavor intensity. Detected leather flavors, with a medium finish."
2023 Soos Creek Syrah Commander Comet ($40) - The only tasting note on CT is mine, and here is my note, "Part of a Soos Creek night with my wine group at a steakhouse. The 2nd of 4 red wines. At least 2 of the 8 of us had this as their favorite and another 3 had it as their 2nd. As with a lot of WA wines I feel this is halfway between old world and CA wines. Not as syrup-y as some CA Syrahs can be, but not as much pepper on the palate as some Rhone Syrahs. My first bottle of the 2023 after finishing my 2021s. Full bodied, more so than the Bordeaux blends that came after it and a long finish. Dark fruits on the palate."
