What we’re about
We are a Wine and Dine Group! We share some good (sometimes Great!) bottles of wine over food and conversation.
A few times per month, we have small group dinners, either 6, 8 or 10 people at each event. The group organizers will host dinners on both weeknights and weekends. The organizer will supply 4 bottles of wine for 6 person dinners, 5 bottles of wine for 8 person dinners, and 6 bottles of wine for 10 person dinners. Most of the time, the wines will come from the event organizer's personal collection.
The cost of each event will be for an individual's share of the wine and in some cases the wine corkage charge of the restaurant. Dinner is not included and must be paid for at the event.
To attend an event, the wine payment must be made in advance, and reservations are on a first come, first serve basis. Once you pay, refunds or credits are only available if you cancel AND your spot gets filled by someone else. All refunds are subject to a $3 cancellation fee. There is no refund or credit for no-shows.
No other outside wine will be permitted, unless prior arrangements have been made with the host, but attendees may order wine or spirits from the restaurant, at their own expense. Attendees are expected to order at least an entree and one other item from the menu, either an appetizer, a side dish or a dessert.
Along with the wine charge, everyone will be expected/required to pay for their own meal, along with a 33% charge for tax and tip.
We will be dining at restaurants that we have established relationships with, where we can bring our own wine for us to enjoy. Corkage varies from restaurant to restaurant, from Zero to $25 per bottle.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU DON'T HAVE A PROFILE PICTURE WHERE I CAN SEE YOUR FACE, YOU WILL BE REJECTED FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THIS GROUP.

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):
2021 Domaine de Vaccelli Corse Chioso Novo ($82) - Not Italian, but Corsican. Vaccelli's higher end Vermentino. No reviews, here is what the importer said, " just the fifth vintage for this wine which is 100% Vermentino that was grafted over onto 50-60 year old root stock. Even though this is the third vintage for this wine, Gérard said that it is nuts how good it is. He is not a braggart/boaster, so I trust his enthusiasms whole heartedly. Again, paltry quantities available, but......"2010 Paolo Bea Montefalco Sagrantino Secco Cerrete ($120) - CT 93.1, WA reviewed the 2009 and 2011, but not the 2010. Here is the 2011 review from 5/2023, 95 points, "Here's another look back in time. The Paolo Bea 2011 Montefalco Sagrantino Cerrete (with 52 days of skin maceration) is surprising delicate and fine with aromas of dried rosebud, Mediterranean lavender or rosemary, black olive and dusty iron ore. It's amazing how fine and silky the wine has become to the palate, and this is a radically different wine compared to what you get with young, more astringent Sagrantino. There's even a Barolo-like glossy shine to the wine's texture. The wine's color has faded slightly with time, and the 15% alcohol has lost its bite. This bottle is drinking beautifully right now."
2000 Pieve Santa Restituta (Gaja) Brunello di Montalcino Sugarille ($149), CT 93, WA 92 points, "The 2000 Brunello di Montalcino Sugarille is dark in color as well as fresh in its aromas and flavors. It exudes a deep palate packed with smoke, tar, underbrush, tobacco and vibrant dark fruit in a style that marries power with finesse. A few years of cellaring are suggested, after which this wine will drink beautifully to at least age 20. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2016."
2008 Tenuta Guado al Tasso (Antinori) Bolgheri Superiore, ($139)- CT 92.7, WE 98, WA 95 points, "The 2008 Guado al Tasso is once again fabulous. In fact, it may be Tuscany’s most improved wine over the last few years. Firm, vibrant tannins support expressive layers of dark fruit, plums, cherries, sage, espresso and mocha. The wine shows fabulous detail and nuance in a translucent, totally seductive style, with tons of focus, drive and verve. It is a striking wine that will be a joy to follow over the coming years. The 2008 Guado al Tasso is composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2028."
2001 Antinori Tignanello ($160) - CT 92.1, WA 93 points (in 2006), "The 2001 Tignanello is an object lesson in how to make Cabernet work with Sangiovese, the two varieties balancing and enhancing one another in admirable symbiosis. (The percentage of Cabernet, in fact, was reduced from the previous 20% to 15% in this vintage, an important sign - I hope - of how the wind is blowing.) A blackish ruby, its perfectly focused plum and cassis fruit, given an additional complexity by notes of sweet herbs and saddle leather, is fully and completely shaped in flavors of impeccable volume, roundness, and depth, caressing and powerful and with an additional power on the close which promises another 15 years of gratifying drinking."
- The Grand Crus of Burgundy - from le Montrachet to le ChambertinThe Leopard at des Artistes, New York, NY$225.00
In Burgundy, Grand Crus sit at the tippity top of the classification system - special vineyards classified by medieval monks that have the reputation of producing some of the finest Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays the world has ever tasted.
In their youth, these wines can be a little austere, but with age they can develop the most complex and intoxicating flavours.
This special night, we will sample a range of (Aged) Grand Cru Burgundies at the Leopard des Artistes restaurant.
*due to the age of the wines, I am unable to guarantee the specific condition of each bottle, so caveat emptor!

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):
2015 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc ($100) - CT 93.1, JD 97 points, "The 2015 Chevalier Blanc is as brilliant now as it was on release yet still needs 4-5 years of bottle age to show at its best. Crushed lime, lemon zest, crushed rocks, and beautiful white grapefruit notes all emerge from this racy, beautifully concentrated, focused white that checks in with the crème de la crème of the vintage. (Drink between 2023-2038)"2005 Chateau Brane-Cantenac (Margaux) - ($99) - CT 92, WA 95 points, "A sexy, style of wine from the Lurtons at Brane-Cantenac, this wine (a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc) has a stunning nose of forest floor, licorice, blackcurrants, plums and spring flowers. Soft tannin, full-bodied opulence and beautifully textured, lush richness, make for a brilliant wine from this large, 180-acre vineyard. In spite of the wine’s stunning forward fragrance and lushness, the color still looks as if it is 3-4 years old, rather than a decade. This is a big-time winner in 2005 and should drink well for at least another 25+ years. (drink 2015-2040)"
2015 Chateau Siran (Margaux) - ($30) - CT 90.9, WS 92, WA 93 points, "The 2015 Siran has a very poised and focused bouquet with pure black cherry, blackcurrant and violet scents that could only derive from this appellation. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, crisp acidity, firm tannin and toward the end it becomes more masculine in style. It is a very well-crafted Siran clearly built for long-term aging; therefore, give this 5 or 6 years at least so that it can show you what it can do. (drink 2022-2045)" A blend of 55% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot. 25% new oak plus one-year barrels.
2015 La Pointe (Pomerol) - ($40) - CT 91.5, WA 92 points, "The 2015 La Pointe is a blend of 84% Merlot and 16% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 was matured in 50% new oak. It has a comparatively flamboyant bouquet compared to recent vintages of La Pointe, with opulent red berry fruit, kirsch, cassis and patina of tar. The palate is medium-bodied, firm in the mouth at the moment, quite structured, the oak nicely integrated with a slightly savory finish. This is a robust La Pointe, quite spicy in the mouth with a long aftertaste. (drink 2020-2040)"
2009 Clos Lunelles (Castillion Cotes de Bordeaux) - ($33) - CT 90.7, WA 93 points, "This is a gorgeous effort, made from a blend of 80% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Cropped at 22 hectoliters per hectare from their clay over limestone soils, the wine displays oodles of new oak, crushed chalk, and blueberry and blackberry fruit with hints of raspberries and pen ink. It is full-bodied and layered, with a fleshy, even succulent mid-palate and a long, long finish. This is terrific Castillon to drink over the next 10-15+ years. (drink 2012-2027)"
