Catskills Day Hike: Wittenberg-Cornell-Slide Ridge

Details
Long day hike (14.1 miles) in the Catskills, across the ridge including the Catskills' high peak, Mt. Slide. Meet at the Woodland Valley campsite/parking lot N. of Mt. Wittenberg NLT 9:30am. We'll go up the steep N. face of Mt. Wittenberg, go W. across Mt. Cornell, then Mt. Slide, then go down the N. side of Slide to follow the road back to our starting point. We'll preposition cars nearest to the road, if we have enough vehicles, to save us a few miles of road hiking.
Elevation Gain: 2,514 feet from Woodland Valley DEC parking lot to the top of Mt. Wittenberg. Mt. Wittenberg: 3,780 ft. Mt. Slide (highest peak): 4,190 ft. 1,781 ft. elevation loss from Slide to western valley.
Flies may be a problem, so bring head netting just in case. Given the distance and possible heat, experienced or otherwise very fit hikers are recommended. Rain check for Sun., 6/15 if it's rainy or very overcast on 6/14.
Address of trailhead: 1319 Woodland Valley Rd, Phoenicia, NY 12464 (Woodland Valley Campground); Meetup has difficulties in recognizing addresses. The address above, when put into Meetup, gives you a buffalo chicken wings venue; oh well. The campground is due north of Mt. Wittenberg.
Suggested Contributions: $2 per hike. Please Venmo@Nature-and-outdoors.
