Meisner Repetition Zoom Class
Details
This is an ongoing repetition class allowing attendees to transcend their personal obstacles to freedom and expression. The class supports participants to come into their power, to trust their instincts, to learn and refine the Meisner approach to acting, to go after what they want, and to find more compassion with the infinite aspects of their humanity. It's experiential and it really works. The class is designed to support both actors and non-actors. Like the Meisner approach, it embraces the idea that an actor’s journey through a scene is richest when coming off a scene partner’s behavior and that planning how things will go is an obstacle to the spontaneous exploration of the moment. It also uses the repetition exercise, though in a way that is an adaptation/expansion of Meisner's original exercise.
Students will work two at a time ("pinning" each other on zoom) as other students observe and as I side-coach. Students get to work multiple times per class. The idea is to give students as much experience as possible within the 1 1/2 hours of class-time.
Another way of describing this type of repetition is "Permission to be honest" or "Permission to be real." I do my best to create a space that supports you in your authenticity, whatever form it may take. The class is for the courageous - it is designed for participants to risk the unknown as that is where they will discover more of themselves. In addition, becoming comfortable with the uncomfortable is necessary to embrace the out-of-control experience that is acting at its most engaging.
Before you come, there is a required 15 minute Zoom (no charge) to give you some context for the class as well as some practice doing repetition.
