What we’re about

Salaams! We're a group for Muslims in their 20s, 30s, and 40s from all walks of life looking to meet other like-minded people in NYC and the surrounding areas. We plan many different meetups in NYC, some of which include, but are not limited to: food crawls, picnics, volunteer work, day trips, night outings, and other activities. We want to create meet-ups for young, active, and modern Muslims. This includes singles, couples, or young families who might enjoy brunching, sports, outdoor adventures, as well as some halal nightlife. This is not a religious, or political discussion group. We tend to steer clear from such topics and just enjoy good company. Non-Muslims who fit this profile are welcome to join us as well. Membership is open to residents of NY, NJ, and CT. If you're visiting from another area, you're more than welcome to attend the events as well.

RSVP YES to events only if you are 100% committed to attending, which is only fair considering there is no membership fee for this group and we do not charge event fees either unless it is unavoidable.

Please link the meet-up group to an active email ID so emails and messages can reach you.

An actual photo must be included in your profile. Membership will be declined if anything else is displayed.

Meetup messaging is an important communication tool for this group. Please ensure you're able to access and respond to messages sent by organizers. To access and reply to your messages click on the dialogue icon in the top right corner with the desktop view of this site or the dialogue icon at the bottom in the meetup app.

We have formed some good friendships in this group. If you want to connect with other members please join us for events. Please note that inappropriate messages and behavior will not be tolerated and such members will be banned/removed from the group.

All members should take a moment to note the rules of the group (listed below) before they RSVP. Treat these events as other social events where you are a guest and extend courtesy to the host/event organizer by RSVP'ing carefully.

No need to RSVP NO if you are not attending, unless you are changing your RSVP from YES to NO.

RSVP YES to events if you're sure you're going to attend. If you have to change your RSVP to NO, then be sure to do it well in advance. This is especially important if we are doing an event that has a waitlist or an event that requires coordination (ex: a restaurant reservation).

No shows (members who RSVP YES and do not show up for the event without notice) will be given a warning, and repeat offenders will eventually be removed from the group and banned from re-joining.

If we are doing something that involves money (ex: eating at a restaurant), then be sure to bring cash. It can be tough to split a bill among 15 different credit cards.

RSVP changes on the day of the event will not be tolerated with some understandable and reasonable exceptions.

Please try to arrive on time for events and use the MTA trip planner tool which is useful if you are using public transit for directions, transit changes during weekends, and timings.

Update 1/15/22
Please note, that masks are mandatory at all meets if you have not been vaccinated. If we have indoor meetups, then you will be required to be fully vaccinated and many venues will require proof. If you decide to attend any future meets, please note that any liability is upon you and the group takes no responsibility for the health and well-being of anyone who attends. Again, if you attend, please exercise caution until further notice. Please keep safe.
