New in Town: Meet People Through Esperanto in the Financial District
Details
Looking for a relaxed way to meet people in NYC that does not revolve around a loud bar, party, or formal networking event?
Join us on Saturday, October 17 at 12:00 PM for coffee, conversation, and a casual introduction to Esperanto in the Financial District.
Esperanto is an international language created to make communication across language backgrounds easier, but you do not need to know any before coming. This is primarily a social gathering where you can meet people, talk about languages, travel, culture, and life in New York, and try something a little different.
Come if you are:
- new to NYC and hoping to make some connections
- interested in languages, travel, or international culture
- curious about Esperanto
- looking for an easygoing daytime social event
- simply interested in meeting a different mix of people
This is not a class, and there is no pressure to speak Esperanto. You can listen, ask questions, learn a few words, or simply enjoy the conversation.

We will be seated inside the café. Look for a small Esperanto flag and some Esperanto books. If you have trouble finding the group, message the organizer through Meetup.
Please purchase a drink or snack to support the café.
You do not have to be new to New York to attend, and you are welcome to bring a friend.
Come for a short visit or stay for the full meetup. Complete beginners are very welcome.
