### Philosophy Run Club

A run for the body. A conversation for the mind.

The Philosophy Run Club combines two practices that have long gone together: movement and reflection. Many philosophers walked while they thought—Socrates in the agora, Aristotle in the Lyceum, and countless others across traditions. This group brings that spirit into a modern running club.

We meet for a relaxed group run followed by an optional short philosophical conversation.

## What to Expect:

Run

  • Distance: ~2–4 miles
  • Pace: conversational (all levels welcome)
  • Route: simple loop so no one gets lost

Conversation (optional)
After the run, we gather briefly for a short discussion question inspired by philosophy, such as:

  • What makes a good life?
  • Is happiness something we pursue or something that emerges?
  • What is courage?
  • Can wisdom be taught?

No preparation required. The goal is thoughtful conversation, not debate.

## Who This Is For

  • Runners who enjoy thoughtful conversation
  • Philosophy enthusiasts who want a healthier habit
  • Curious people who enjoy meeting others who like ideas

NO PRIOR BACKGROUND IN PHILOSOPHY REQUIRED!

## Format

  1. Meet and brief introductions
  2. Group run
  3. Optional post-run coffee and conversation

Total time: about 60 minutes.

## What to Bring

  • Running shoes
  • Water if you like
  • Curiosity

Philosophy has often been practiced in motion—walking, traveling, wandering. This group simply adds running to that tradition. Join us for a run and a conversation!
