Pritchett "The Ladder" & Cheever "The Five-Forty-Eight"

For our next installment of A_Century_of_Fiction_in_The_New_Yorker, we'll be reading V.S. Pritchett's "The Ladder" of 1949, and Cheever's "The Five-Forty-Eight" of 1954 . It should be a good one! These two stories can be found in the book from pages 90-118. Can't wait to see you all for an interesting pair!
PS: No, I didn't make a mistake! We are skipping "The Lottery"! Been there, done that--quite recently!
PPS: Please note that April's meetings have been shifted to weeks 2 and 4 to try and accommodate the Passover Holiday. I know we'll hit Holy Thursday, but I think we can manage!
