This meeting with A_Century_of_Fiction_in_The_New_Yorker will focus on John Updike's "The Happiest I've Ever Been" and Philip Roth's "Defender of the Faith," both published in the magazine in 1959. These two stories can be found in the book from pages 159 to 204. It's a heavier load of reading than usual, but I'm sure it'll be worth it!
