Get into the Halloween Spirit with Ken Sandford and an appropriately themed topic, Collecting Wreck and Crash Covers.
If you think philately is all Caspar Milquetoast – Think again. Collecting Wreck and Crash covers is a supersensible area of collecting that allows you to explore one of the darker sides of history. Crash cover collecting is more than “body bags” (the packaging the post office sometimes uses for damaged mail) and ratings, but about the often forgotten tales of tragedy or near-death experiences.

Topical Collecting doesn't rattle your chains? - Don't ghost us.
There may be doppelgangers in your collection. Identifying the visitant crash cover or postal marking in your traditional collection can raise an item's significance. Transportation accidents are rare; there is about a 1 in 6,864,250 chance of a plane accident and a 0.006% of a ship wreck. If you have a crash cover in your collection, it could fetch a handsome premium when you liquidate - that should raise your spirits.
Whether you troll for material or chase items like a banshee, a knowledge of crash and wreck covers will add another dimension.
This is a free and open event—all are welcome. Membership is neither required or expected.
A spirited discussion will follow the presentation, with everyone welcome to participate. Closed captioning and Computer language translation are available.
You are in for a real Treat!
