Fix One Thing: Auckland | With Base44
10 Madden Street, 10 Madden Street, Central, Auckland 1010, New Zealand, Auckland, NZBring a real life problem here. And leave with a working product.
What is one thing about living, working, moving around, or building a business in Auckland that should work better?
Fix One Thing: Auckland is a hands-on build session for founders, operators, executives, product people, designers, developers, AI builders, and anyone who has been sitting on an idea they want to finally turn into something real. This is not about networking around a name badge. It is about finding people who care about the same problem, building something together, and seeing how far you can take it in one afternoon.
๐ก How it works
When you register, youโll be invited to submit a real problem or product idea.
The strongest ideas will be collected into a live ideas board. On the day, you can browse the board, choose the problem you care about most, and find other people who picked the same one. Teams of up to four will form around shared problems. Then you build.Using Base44, your team will take the idea as far as possible during the afternoon. Once your prototype is ready, youโll have the chance to pitch it to the judges and compete for a share of the NZ$1,200 prize pool.
And if you want to take the idea even further, IgniteAI.nz can help you explore the next step through a startup founder coaching session.๐ Important: RSVPโing here does not replace the official Auckland Startup Week registration. Please register through the official event page to secure your place. This is an event in collaboration with Startup Week. If you want to join, please RSVP here: https://www.aucklandstartupweek.com/programme-2026/fix-one-thing-auckland-with-base44
The goal is not just a pitch deck or a throwaway prototype.
The goal is to create something working that you can test, share, improve, keep building, and potentially turn into something much bigger after Auckland Startup Week. If you want to continue, you can take it to IgniteAI.nz for startup coaching to make it a real business.
No coding experience is required.
Product thinking, design, technical skills, industry knowledge, storytelling, customer insight and commercial thinking all matter.
๐ Build something worth continuing
The strongest teams will pitch their solutions to the judges, with NZ$1,200 in prizes for the top three teams.
๐ฅ NZ$600
๐ฅ NZ$400
๐ฅ NZ$200But the most valuable outcome may be what happens after the event.
You may leave with:
- a working product
- a new team
- a clearer understanding of the problem
- potential users or customers
- and possibly the beginning of a new business
๐ From idea to startup โ IgniteAI Founder Coaching
For members of the winning teams who want to keep developing their idea after the event, we are also offering the opportunity to book a founder video coaching session with IgniteAI.
IgniteAI (https://igniteai.nz) is a New Zealand not-for-profit startup community founded by the organisers behind Auckland AI Meetup.
Its mission is to help AI-driven startups find product-market fit and then build their products faster, better, and cheaper.
The coaching session is designed for teams who look at what they built and think:
Could this actually become something?
Together, we can explore questions such as:
Who is the real customer? How painful is this problem?Would people actually use or pay for the solution?
What should we test next?
What should we buildโand what should we not build?
Could this become a sustainable startup?
The build session gets you from problem to product.IgniteAI can help you think about what comes next.

Wynyard Quarter
Auckland Central 1010๐ป What to bring
Bring your laptop.
More importantly, bring a problem.
It could be something frustrating about living in Auckland.
Something inefficient in your industry.
Something your customers struggle with.
Something your company still handles manually.
Or an idea that has been sitting in your notes for the last two years.
You donโt need a finished solution.
That is what the afternoon is for.
Come with a problem. Leave with a product, and potentially the start of your next business.๐ Important: RSVPโing here does not replace the official Auckland Startup Week registration. Build for Auckland: Build Night with Base44 ๐
125 St Georges Bay Rd, 125 Saint Georges Bay Road, Parnell, Auckland 1052, New Zealand, Auckland, NZWhat can you build for Auckland in one evening?
Join Auckland AI Meetup, Startup Club NZ, and the wider Auckland startup community for a hands-on evening where we turn real problems into working apps and AI agents.
This is not an evening of sitting through talks. Youโll actually build something.
Whether you're a developer, designer, founder, student, product person, AI enthusiastโor simply someone with an ideaโyouโre welcome. The top five teams will pitch their solutions on stage, and the top three teams will share a NZ$1,200 prize pool.๐ Important: Please register through the official event page to secure your place.
RSVP here: https://www.aucklandstartupweek.com/programme-2026/build-for-auckland-base-44-build-night๐ก How it works
You do not need to arrive with a team or even an idea.
We'll have real Auckland challenges submitted by the community. Pick a problem you care about, meet other participants, and form a team of up to four people.Choose a challenge โ Form a team โ Build โ Demo โ Pitch
Teams will receive a short challenge brief and a starting Base44 prompt, then use Base44 to rapidly build a working app or AI agent.
Industry mentors will be around during the evening to help you develop the idea, solve problems, and turn your prototype into something compelling.
There will also be a short workshop exploring an important question:You've built a prototype. Could this become a real, sustainable business?
๐ Build it. Pitch it. Maybe keep building it.
At the end of the build session, teams submit their prototypes for judging.
The top five teams will pitch their solutions on stage, and the top three teams will share a NZ$1,200 prize pool.
๐ฅ NZ$600
๐ฅ NZ$400
๐ฅ NZ$200
But we don't necessarily want the journey to end when the build night finishes.๐ From prototype to startup โ IgniteAI Founder Coaching
For members of the winning teams who want to take their idea seriously, we're also offering the opportunity to book a founder video coaching session with IgniteAI.IgniteAI ( https://igniteai.nz )is a New Zealand not-for-profit startup community founded by the organisers behind Auckland AI Meetup. Its mission is to help AI-driven startups find product-market fit and then build their products faster, better, and cheaper, creating the foundations for sustainable growth.
The coaching session is an opportunity to step back from the build-night prototype and explore questions such as:Is there a real customer for this? What problem are we actually solving? What should we build next? Could this become a startup?
If you've built something promising during the evening, or you got other ideas, IgniteAI can help you think about what comes next.
So the goal isn't only:
Idea โ Prototype โ Prize
It could become:
Idea โ Prototype โ Customers โ Product โ Startup ๐๐ What your $10 ticket includes
- ๐ฃ Sushi
- ๐ One month of Base44 Builder โ NZ$80 value
- ๐ค Mentors, builders, founders and potential new teammates
- โก A chance to go from an idea to a working prototype in one evening

โ ๐ฅ Who should come?
Anyone interested in AI, startups, building products, or solving real problems.
You don't have to be an experienced programmer. Developers, designers, founders, students, product people, business professionals, creatives, and curious first-time builders are all welcome.
AI has dramatically lowered the barrier between having an idea and actually building it.
This evening is about experiencing that for yourself.๐ When & Where
