Rob Collins "su -" Monty: OpenStack is ready ... so now what?

Details

Due to a change in Monty's availability and travel schedule he will unfortunately no longer be visiting New Zealand. His colleague Rob Collins will be holding this discussion in his place. On the plus side HP says the "beers and pizza will be in abundance".

Robert Collins is a Distinguished Technologist on the continuous integration / continuous deployment team in HP Cloud. For the last 4 years he has been walking the fine line between development and operations. He is also a developer on the Debian project, and has contributed to many other projects, including (but certainly not limited to): bazaar, Launchpad, Ubuntu, subunit, testresources, testtools, testscenarios, testrepository, fixtures, zope fixtures, config manager, cygwin and squid.

Robert has been involved with open source development and Python for a number of years, with a "tremendous passion for high quality, well tested software". He has been described as a "Champion of test driven development", and a "meticulous software developer". He lives in Rangiora, New Zealand with his wife & young daughter.

"OpenStack is ready ... so now what?"

We all know that OpenStack is perfect and has taken over the world already. So what's next? What do we do tomorrow?

One of OpenStack's strengths is its vast ecosystem of collaborating engineers and companies - but in terms of setting a strategy for the future, it's also one of the hardest challenges. There is a real need for what we might call "product management" in a more traditional setting, but the needs and results might not be what you'd expect.

Let's talk about what OpenStack needs, what Monty thinks the next steps need to be- and how we're going to take this giant community on the journey with us.

Agenda:

• 5:30pm - Pizza and beer kindly provided by HP Helion

• 6:00pm - Presentation

• 7:00pm - Mingle with other OpenStackers!
