World Quantum Day 14/4

Details

Did you know that on April 14/ 4.14, we celebrate World Quantum Day, a day that holds significance tied to the rounded first digits of Planck’s constant: 4.1356677×10−15eV⋅s. This constant, 0.000 000 000 000 004 1356677 electron volt second, plays a crucial role in quantum physics, being the fundamental constant governing this field. Join the celebration and explore the realm of Quantum - its importance, relevance, and timeliness.

Please attend:
Dear Sir or Madam,
UNESCO and the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) are launching International Colloquia on “Physics for Society. The 2025 colloquia will focus on Quantum Science and Technology to be aligned with the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology(IYQ 2025). This also falls under the wider umbrella of the Science Decade (2024-2033). This series of colloquia aims to bring together leading scientists, policymakers, and industry experts from around the world to establish an engaging and interactive multidisciplinary and cross-regional collaboration platform for science popularisation for quantum science and technology. It seeks to explore the latest advancements in quantum science and technology, promote knowledge sharing and innovation, inspire collective wisdom across diverse fields, foster the integration of quantum science with other disciplines, and contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The first session will kick off on 14 April 2025 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm (CEST) on Zoom. We are honoured to welcome Professor Anne L’Huillier, Nobel Laureate in Physics (2023), as the keynote speaker for this opening session. Prof. L’Huillier will share insights from her pioneering work on attosecond light pulses in quantum science, as well as reflections on her journey as a woman scientist at the forefront of physics.
