Fall Foliage Walk to the Top of East Rock

We will meet in the parking lot on Davis St. in Hamden. near corner of Ridge Road and Davis St. (If you GPS to 180 Davis Street you will be at the entrance). Meet at 10 a.m. and start walking by 10:10 a.m. Great opportunity to see some local foliage and awesome city views. The walk up is not steep and only about 1 short mile with nice views at various points along the way. The entire road up is paved and open to walkers, but not vehicles.
East Rock Park spans 425 acres and sits atop the rugged cliffs of East Rock, offering stunning views of the city skyline, New Haven Harbor, and Long Island Sound. The park’s trails wind through woodlands, meadows, and rocky outcrops, providing opportunities for hiking, jogging, and nature exploration. The Summit Trail, a well-known 1.5-mile path, leads to the top of East Rock, rewarding visitors with breathtaking panoramic views.
One of the park’s most notable landmarks is the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, a towering obelisk erected in 1887 to honor New Haven’s Civil War veterans. In addition to its scenic beauty, East Rock Park also offers picnic areas, playgrounds, and sports fields, making it a popular destination for outdoor recreation and family outings.
