Newcastle Bushwalks & Getaways

BUSH WALK. It will be a medium difficulty 10km bushwalk that will take us about 3 hours. We will walk to Redhead Beach via Lagoon Trail, Bluff Trail, Dudley Lookout, Redhead Lookout and return to Dudley via Redhead Trail & Lagoon Trail.

MORNING TEA. We can buy coffee and food at Redhead Beach Surf Club

WHAT TO BRING. Good bushwalking shoes, a hat, rain jacket, backpack, sunscreen, first aid kit, snack food and 1.5L water.

Gold Coast, Stradbroke Island & Byron Bay Holiday. This will be a relaxing "Winter Escape" beach holiday in southern Queensland and northern NSW. We will fly from Sydney to the Gold Coast, pick up a minibus, drive to Victoria Point, get the ferry to North Stradbroke Island and stay at a beach resort for 2 nights. We will then drive to Byron Bay where we will stay at either Brunswick Heads, Byron Bay or Ballina, depending on price and availability. We will check out local tourist attractions and visit Nimbin "hippy town". After visiting Byron Bay, we will drive back to the Gold Coast and stay for 2 nights at either Coolangatta, Burleigh Heads or Broadbeach.

HOLIDAY COST. $1750pp for twin share rooms or $2150 for single rooms. Cost includes return flights to the Gold Coast, 6 nights good quality accommodation, 7 days minibus hire, fuel, vehicle insurance and ferry trip to North Stradbroke Island.

PAYMENT. Please pay Chris $800 deposit by 31st January and your $900 or $1350 balance by 31st May 2025.

CAR PARKING. There may not be enough car parking spaces at Glenrock car park, but there should be plenty of parking space at the entrance to Scout Camp road.

PLEASE NOTE. There are no public toilets on this bushwalk. Scout Camp toilets may not be open to the public. GLENROCK BUSHWALK. This will be a medium difficulty 7km bushwalk with a steep 300 metre descent and uphill climb. We will start the walk promptly at 9.00am and proceed down the Yuelarbah Track, across Flaggy Creek and down to the beach. We will have a 15min break at Glenrock Scout Camp and then walk back to Yuelarbah Car Park via Leggy Point Lookout, Goat Track and Burwood Track.

HEALTH & SAFETY. Please remember that everyone is responsible for their own health and safety. Please wear good bushwalking shoes and bring a backpack, snack food, a hat, sunscreen, rain jacket, first aid kit and at least 1.5L water.

LOW TIDE. We will need to start this walk at 8.00am to coincide with low tide at 8.30am. This should allow us to walk through Ghosties Cave, if it hasn't been completely washed out by recent high tides.

BEACH & BUSH WALK. This is an easy 8km walk that will take us about 3 hours to complete. We will start the walk at Catherine Hill Bay Surf Club and walk to Hales Bluff, Moonee Head, Moonee Beach, Deep Cave Bay, Flat Rocks Point and Ghosties Beach.

AFTER WALK. Food and drinks at Catherine Hill Bay Hotel.
