Talks
Myles Mitchell, Data Scientist @ Jumping Rivers
Deploying models into production with vetiver
Ever wondered how you would take your machine learning models from development to production? The vetiver framework offers a beginner-friendly and free-to-use interface for versioning, deploying and monitoring your models built in Python and R. This talk will provide a brief introduction to MLOps and its importance in the machine learning lifecycle. Using a basic MLOps stack built using vetiver, we will cover practical techniques and best practices for ensuring your models are not only functional but also robust and scalable.
Conor Goold, Senior Data Scientist @ Ledger Investing
A Bayesian workflow for modelling casualty insurance risk
Can we predict the profitability of an insurance company? As one of the oldest areas of applied statistics, actuarial science is concerned with forecasting risk, and has developed a number of tools to assess whether the balance of losses and premiums will be favourable to the solvency of insurance programs.
At Ledger, we use Bayesian modelling to provide a robust view of insurance company performance to help investors form decisions about whether to invest in insurance programs. We have developed a Bayesian workflow for modelling the performance of insurance programs in keeping with standard actuarial methods that we evaluate using decades of historical data. This talk will provide an overview of this Bayesian workflow.
