Past the hype: LLMs as a standard part of the data science stack

There is a lot of hype over large language models (LLMs) and what they can do. The reality of building products with these models is often very different. At Bud, we have a wealth of experience applying machine learning to consumer financial data - to help consumers better understand their money, and to help clients better understand their customers. In this talk, I'll cover how we use traditional machine learning and LLMs in production, how to see through the hype and get to something useful, and principles for deciding on when to reach for an LLM to solve a problem.

Communication skills as a technical individual contributor

Most guidance on communication in the workplace is aimed at managers, leaders and non-technical staff. In this talk I'll explore communication strategies for knowledge workers, focusing on how to be an effective individual contributor.
